Tide Instant Saver £5,000 requirement

The hardest part of the REFER200 offer to plan around. Here's exactly what £5,000 means, the 7-day deposit window and the 30-day hold rule.

The 7-day deposit window

The £5,000 must arrive in Instant Saver within 7 days of your account opening. Bank transfers can take a working day to settle. If you send the money on day 7, it may not land until day 8 — too late.

Safe rule: deposit by day 5. Use Faster Payments from a UK account so the funds arrive within minutes.

The 30-day hold

The Instant Saver balance must stay at or above £5,000 for 30 consecutive days from the day you hit the £5,000 figure. A single dip below £5,000 during this period — even briefly — is usually enough to void the £125 portion.

Edge cases that catch people out

  • Standing orders or scheduled withdrawals running on day 15 or 20.
  • Interest payments don't count toward the £5,000 base — keep the principal in.
  • Tax bills or supplier payments due during the hold window.
  • Currency moves if you also use Tide for FX.

What if you withdraw early?

The £125 portion is generally forfeited if the balance drops below £5,000 within the 30-day hold. The £75 card-spend portion is unaffected — it's scored independently.

What if you don't have £5,000 free?

You can still earn the £75 card-spend reward on its own. Model your situation in the offer calculator.

What to record before contacting Tide

Keep the date and amount of the Saver deposit, the relevant account-opening date and the balance history for the full hold period. Do not move tax, payroll or operating cash solely to pursue a potential reward.

  • The date your account opened and the date you applied.
  • A screenshot of the referral or promotion field, if one was shown.
  • Relevant transaction, deposit or account-timeline dates and amounts.
  • The exact question you need Tide to answer, without assuming an outcome.

Keep the record for your own follow-up. Tide decides account approval, promotion eligibility and any reward validation. For related checks, see the cashback help hub and the current REFER200 status page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I deposit £5,000 in two transfers?+

Yes — what matters is that the Instant Saver balance reaches £5,000 within 7 days. A single transfer is the simplest evidence.

Does Tide pay interest on the £5,000?+

Tide Instant Saver pays a published variable rate. Interest doesn't reduce your qualifying balance because the principal stays in.

Can I move the £5,000 out as soon as day 30 ends?+

Yes — once the 30-day hold completes you can withdraw or move the money freely.
