About Business Account Referral

An independent UK guide to business current accounts, referral codes, promotions and the practical rules that decide whether you actually get paid.

Our mission

Business Account Referral exists to help UK small-business owners understand business accounts, referral codes, promotions, fees and practical eligibility requirements — and to do it without the two failures that dominate this corner of the internet: expired codes left online for years, and headline cashback figures quoted without the conditions attached to them. Every commercial page here carries one current code, one set of eligibility rules and one visible last-checked date.

The team

Three people produce everything on this site. Each guide names the person who wrote it and the date it was last reviewed.

Adam Short

Editor

Adam Short edits Business Account Referral and leads its reviews of UK small-business current accounts and referral promotions. His work focuses on translating offer rules, account pricing and product features into clear steps for sole traders, freelancers, contractors and limited-company owners. For this Tide review, Adam checked the REFER200 journey, current Tide plan data, account-protection wording, switching support, invoicing limits and the practical deadlines attached to both cashback components. Business Account Referral is independent from Tide; its editorial conclusions are its own.

Illustrated portrait of Priya Raman, small business finance writer at Business Account Referral

Priya Raman

Small business finance writer

Priya Raman writes Business Account Referral's task guides and troubleshooting content. She spent six years in bookkeeping and practice support for UK micro-businesses and sole traders, reconciling business account feeds, chasing missing payments and handling VAT returns. That background shapes how she writes: each guide walks the actual sequence a reader has to follow, names the deadline attached to each step, and states plainly where a provider — not the reader — makes the final decision.

Experience
  • Six years in bookkeeping and practice support for UK sole traders and micro-limited companies.
  • Day-to-day experience of business account feeds, Direct Debit setup, invoice chasing and VAT record-keeping.
  • Writes and maintains the troubleshooting cluster: code not working, code forgotten, cashback not received.
  • Checks every step-by-step guide against the current provider journey before publication.
Covers
  • Step-by-step offer guides
  • Troubleshooting and cashback help
  • Bookkeeping and day-to-day account use

Illustrated portrait of Daniel Okoye, data and comparisons analyst at Business Account Referral

Daniel Okoye

Data and comparisons analyst

Daniel Okoye is responsible for the numbers on Business Account Referral. He builds and maintains the provider comparison dataset — plan fees, included transfers, FX charges, cash-handling costs, savings rates and account-protection model — from published provider sources, and re-checks volatile values on a monthly cycle. He also models worked cost examples so readers can see what a plan actually costs at their own transaction volume rather than at a headline rate.

Experience
  • Eight years in pricing and product analysis, including four in UK financial services comparison data.
  • Owns the provider dataset, the monthly re-check schedule and the dated pricing snapshots used sitewide.
  • Builds the cost-modelling behind the fee examples and the offer calculators.
  • Reviews every comparison table for source accuracy before it is published.
Covers
  • Provider pricing and fee data
  • Comparison tables and datasets
  • Cost modelling and calculators

Author images are illustrations, not photographs. Nobody on this team is a Tide employee, an FCA-authorised adviser, an accountant, a solicitor or a qualified financial adviser. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

What we cover

How reviews are produced

We take product facts from official provider sources — published pricing, terms and help centres — plus the FCA Financial Services Register and the FSCS for regulatory detail. We walk the actual account-opening and promotion journey rather than describing it from memory. Every pricing table carries a verification date (currently 12 October 2026) and links to the provider's live pricing page.

Volatile values are re-checked monthly. When something changes, we update the affected pages the same day where we can and log it on the changelog. Reported errors are checked against the primary source and confirmed corrections are actioned within five working days. The full process is documented on review methodology.

Independence

Independent guide. We may earn a referral fee; your REFER200 offer is unchanged.

Business Account Referral is not Tide, is not owned by Tide, and is not authorised to provide regulated financial services. Referral revenue does not allow any provider to approve, review or alter an editorial verdict, score or ranking. We keep providers we earn nothing from in our comparisons, and we flag the cases where a competitor is the better answer — cash-heavy businesses, multi-currency businesses and anyone who needs branch access. The rules we hold ourselves to are set out in our editorial policy.

What we won't do

  • Describe a conditional cashback offer as guaranteed, free or risk-free.
  • Use countdown timers, invented expiry dates or artificial scarcity.
  • Publish invented user reviews, ratings or testimonials.
  • Run paid placements disguised as editorial.
  • Encourage anyone to open a duplicate account to game an offer.
